Overshoot Day 2024: The Planet in Deficit

On August 1, 2024, the world marked Overshoot Day, the date when humanity had consumed all the resources that Earth can regenerate in a year. This year represents the fastest depletion of resources in human history. The event highlights an issue of resource distribution, with many advanced countries showing significant ecological deficits. These countries consume far more resources than their territories can regenerate.

Reducing the Impact of Microplastics: Simple Tips

Microplastic pollution is one of the most pressing environmental challenges today. Even at home or in the office, we can make a difference by taking small steps to reduce plastic usage:

  • Use wooden or tempered glass cutting boards instead of plastic ones.
  • Avoid plastic containers in the microwave and opt for glass, porcelain, or ceramic.
  • Choose glass or stainless steel cups instead of paper ones, which often contain non-recyclable plastic coatings.
  • Opt for loose leaf tea instead of tea bags, many of which contain plastic.

For more details on reducing microplastic usage, check out the article published by Euronews.
