Summer is coming. The heat will therefore increase as the quantity of water decreases. To avoid water stress, a critical situation that occurs when available water resources are lower than demand, businesses, farmers, etc. will adapt. Individuals also have a role to play in preserving water resources. By adapting their digital consumption, they can limit their impacts. A 2021 GreenIT study<\/a> estimated at 559 million m3 of fresh water consumed in France for one year of consuming digital services. This represents individually 9 liters of mineral water consumed daily in France. So let’s limit our impact by using digital services reasonably. Before banning streaming, let’s start by disabling 4K and automatic reading video. To listen to music, go to dedicated platforms and not video platforms. And above all,increase the lifespan of our equipment. To produce a cell phone, we need over 50 rare ores. The extraction and transformation of these ores requires large volumes of water. For 1 kg of lithium, 2000 L of water are required. Our phone batteries contain around 100 g of lithium, or 200 L needed for their production. The more frequently we change our phone, the more water we use to make it.
